Taras Bulba

Taras Bulba is the masterpiece of Nikolai Gogol, a prominent Ukrainian writer. A century ago ago Mykola Sadovsky translated into Ukrainian the second edition of this novel, which is presented in this book along with several small but extremely important and illustrative inserts from the first edition. Set sometime between the mid-sixteenth and early-seventeenth century, Gogol's epic tale recounts both a bloody Cossack revolt against the Poles and the trials of Taras Bulba's two sons.
