Visions on Paper is a manifesto of architectural drawing by hand. This individual form of expression can be anything: a quick sketch to capture and articulate ideas, an exact technical presentation of details, or an artistic rendering falling nothing short of painting quality. Even though today hyper-realistic simulations or virtual building walk-throughs are common tools of architectural representation, manual drawings remain indispensable because they express the essence of a building project inimitably and directly.
This book shows how architects today are continuing to use or rediscovering drawings and sketches. It offers an insight into the fascinating world of these wonderful representational media. To make the connection between planning and realization vividly comprehensible, the carefully selected two- and three-dimensional designs implemented with very different techniques are juxtaposed with photos of the subsequent execution.
